Craig Segal Co-Founder of Runner’s High – Freehold began running at the tender age of 11 and hasn’t looked back since. From humble beginnings, Craig proved that hard work and dedication to running can indeed pay off. He climbed the running ranks through his high school years as a Holmdel Hornet and went on to Villanova University where he continued to thrive and develop as a runner.Competing as a grad student at Monmouth University capped off Craig’s collegiate running career and it was a seamless transition into road racing. Donning the Runner’s High racing singlet, Craig has run plenty of races over the past years boasting several PRs, first place finishes, and two top 10 finishes at the Philadelphia Marathon in 2008 and 2009 , all while working a full-time desk job. Craig holds personal bests of 14:35 (5k), 30:42 (10k), 1:08:20 (1/2 Marathon), and 2:25:09 (Marathon).Running gave so much to Craig so it was only natural that he ditch the daily grind to pursue his goal of owning and operating a successful running store. Since placing a store on the property of Holmdel Park (New Jersey’s High School Cross Country Mecca) was not an option, Craig will have to settle for Freehold for now.
Jim Segal, Co-Founder of Runner’s High – Freehold discovered running later on in life. A lawyer by trade, Jim picked up running in his early 40’s, when he made the move to a house conveniently situated on the border of Holmdel Park. Within the first few years of running, Jim quickly turned from a hobby-jogger, into a force to be reckoned with on the road racing circuit. During his 20+ years of running, he has taken numerous age group awards, most recently of which was the 2011 Rock N’ Roll Philadelphia ½ Marathon 60-65 age group crown. Jim boasts personal bests of 1:27:41 in the ½ marathon, and 3:12:06 in the marathon (Boston ‘10). Want to learn a few things about age adjusted results? Just ask Jim – he will tell you all about them!!Our Staff
